Whether you are getting ready to go to work or getting glam for a night on the town, makeup is probably a part of your daily routine. Prepping your skin before makeup application is very important, often times great makeup is thanks to the preparation that goes onto the skin first. And while every skin type is different, here are the basics of what we've learned on how to prep your skin properly for makeup application. Start with Clean Skin The first step should be cleansing your skin to remove any dirt, oil, and impurities. Exfoliate This is not something we recommend for every day, but at least 2x per week. I had my first colonoscopy screening at age 45 and have undergone the procedure three times since. I’m at risk because I lost my father to the disease last year. After diagnosing Dad in 2012, the gastroenterologist firmly told my brother and me to “run, not walk” to get a colonoscopy. I followed his advice to the letter. During my first colonoscopy, pre-cancerous polyps were discovered and removed. I was shocked, as I had no idea that they were there! If my dad hadn’t been diagnosed with colorectal cancer – or if I had waited until I felt like it, or had serious symptoms – it might have been too late. I’ve always loved the color blue. It’s the color of the ocean, the sky on a clear day, blueberries. And it’s the designated color of “National Dress in Blue Day.” Held the first Friday in March, this day honors the memory of those lost to colon cancer, those who are fighting it, and support for the caregivers while raising awareness about how people can reduce their risk of the disease. My father was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in the summer of 2012 at age 73, but he was exhibiting symptoms years before then. Like many men of his generation, he refused to see or even talk to a doctor about it. Dad was also an insulin-dependent diabetic and had three stents in his heart. I guess he felt like he had been poked and prodded enough over the years.

Snow is beautiful, but sometimes it can stick around too long! Check out our 7 tips for beating the winter blues: 1. Turn on the music! Research has shown that listening to upbeat music can significantly improve your mood in both the short and long term. Whether you’re a country fan or love the heavy metal, create a playlist that speaks to you! 2. Help others. When we help others, it can improve our mental health by giving us support and satisfaction. 3. Eat smarter. Did you know that chocolate can help to enhance your mood and relieve anxiety? (In moderation, of course)! However, foods like candy and carbs provide a temporary feeling of euphoria but could ultimately increase feelings of depression and anxiety. Choose green! 4. Bring in the LIGHT! By making your environment brighter, you can improve your mental well being. If
